Echometer Model M
Echometer
A portable acoustic measurement device for determining liquid levels in a well's casing annulus, using a dual-channel amplifier/recorder and a gun/microphone wellhead attachment. Generates acoustic pulses via a gas gun that travel down the wellbore and reflect off tubing collars and liquid surfaces; a microphone captures reflections, converting them to electrical signals processed and recorded on paper strip chart. Liquid depth is calculated by counting collar reflections (× average tubing joint length) or via acoustic velocity with labeled timing marks.
